ROSSINA BOSSIO TALKS ABOUT THBP AT SAINT CLAIRE’S CHURCH MUSEUM

During the course of the exhibition of The Holy Beauty Project at Saint Claire’s Church Museum, the artist will give a number of talks discussing the themes of the project and the creative process behind it, in order to engage in dialogue with the visitors. The dates of the talks are:

THE HOLY BEAUTY PROJECT WILL BE AT SAINT CLAIRE’S CHURCH MUSEUM

For the first time Rossina Bossio exhibits The Holy Beauty Project, a series of artworks created exclusively for the Saint Claire’s Church Museum in Bogotá. With 365 years of history, Saint Claire is one the few churches in Colombia remaining from the colony that belonged to women religious communities. Nowadays a Museum, it has showcased the work of renowned contemporary artists such as Andrés Serrano (USA), Javier Marín (Mexico), Ricky Dávila (Spain) and Colombian artists María Teresa Hincapié, José Alejandro Restrepo, Adriana Duque and Luis Luna, among others.

Opening on April 19th and running until May 20th 2012, the Museum Church will present Rossina Bossio’s interpretation of women’s iconography, which aims to expose its paradoxical nature: mystic and humane, sublime and subversive, submissive and transgressive. Composed by 1 video and 17 paintings that juxtapose the language of religious iconography and contemporary advertising, the project intends to question the seductive power of images and the values incarnated by women throughout the history of visual communications.

For the creation of the video, which will be streamed the day of the opening, Rossina Bossio collaborated with cinematographers Luis Otero Prada and Rafael Martínez, musicians Nicolás Díaz Durana and Leonardo De Neymet, and designers Laurean Tirado, Jonna Bergelin and Clara Garrido, among others**.
